Memes
I don't know if the words that I want to say come out the right way or not but here we go.
This writing is about memes. Memes, those random short clips and pictures that say they're made for providing laughter. What I mostly find pondering about is, do they make you laugh though?
They have been quite helpful at times. At raising awareness among people, at sharing the wholesome happiness, at marketing and I can't even appreciate how much it has helped people in coping with serious matters. I agree that comedy is subjective, what makes some people laugh may not make other laugh and what not. But what do we see nowadays as meme? Have you ever analyzed them or even thought about them?
So let me put it from my perspective and from my timeline viewpoint. Half the memes I see are the ones that I've seen floating around since ages. Maybe that's on me for having being connected to Facebook for a long time and following a lot and a lot of pages from ages. Sometimes these memes get stale but whenever some younger brother or sister who I've known, just join the internet see these posts, they find it amusing and do not back out of sharing these memes. And this is absolutely okay until they end up collectively sharing tens and hundreds of those same memes and become an eyesore.
Some other memes still include those, "Bibek sanga matrai bihe garxu", "Rajesh Hamal nachda jamin bhasiyo", "A bata naam aaune yesto, B bata naam aaune yesto". God! What do I even say about these people? And who do I even criticize about? Those who are making this thing still a 'thing' or to those who keep on sharing these 'thing's. These people are still going and there doesn't seem a force big enough to stop them.
People, haven't you had enough of those shitty edits by now? Can we not just post them now if they include a song and pornstars. I've utmost respect for those working in the adult movie industry but hold up people! You've got to stop milking the content out of these poor people's past. Haven't you been sick of putting same versatility of Johny Sins in different music? Haven't you had enough of finding people with similar face to that of Mia Khalifa and openly bullying them? So what, anybody who puts on a spectacle now is Mia Khalifa? Is that what it has come to now? Never heard about her protesting against the brutality of police? Never heard about her protesting the oppression of human rights? Never heard about her supporting many charities? Never heard about speaking up against the way she was indulged in the adult industry? Why are we still cherishing on giving a scratch to their past?
And oh the almighty! What in the living world to these sick bastards share sometimes! Some of the people you find sharing these horniest than ever memes are the worst. They find cleavage amusing, they find a camel toe amusing. They find slip disk amusing, they find wardrobe malfunction amusing. They even find a hand with some clipped nails amusing. I can't even stand them when I see some of these danklords when they share a picture of a girl with bruised knees with the caption that reads "jaagir pakka hai?" These are the memes when even as a man you scroll down through these find extremely hard to digest. I wonder what must go through the girls who've to see this.
And recently with the rise of TikTok, it's almost as if we've found a whole new place to hunt content for. What bothers the most out of me is people who are having trouble exploring and expressing their sexual orientation to this society and the reaction to them! You'll find hundreds of these memes, everyday - with no break. You'll find people abusing the shit out of Nikesh Shrestha. You'll find the closest of your friend still laughing at Saroj Shrestha going "aaaaahhhh". I know, these people have had trouble being clear in their mind about their own self. I know these people aren't really putting quality content. But neither are half the other users.
Is it up to us to decide what they are? Have they all of a sudden become a burden to this society and you're doing the best you can by abusing them in comments, body-shaming them or even making the worst of worst meme that one can see? Wouldn't it be a little nice if the people would stop getting fame for wrong reasons?
Well, what brought the downfall then? The easing availability of network all around the country? That's not something to be upset about though, is it? Or the glory that people tend to feel by completely bullying the shit out of people? Probably, huh?
A few amount of edgy memes, few dark jokes, few wholesome memes and sometimes a little childish memes? What's wrong with seeing them or even sharing them? If one is running a meme page, isn't it a better idea to focus on quality of your memes rather than the quantity? Or, are you ready to face a downfall like meme Nepal, Troll Nepal, RVCJ, etc? When did it ever become a compulsion to share memes?
By now, you'd already be thinking "can't you just leave facebook then?" I can. I have. A number of times. And behind all of it, most of the times it was definitely the memes. Many of my colleagues and friends have done for the same too. So, what's the problem then? Well, as a society we're unable to catch up with the speed of technology! Half the people you want to, you need to converse with are here, in Facebook. That way, you can't just leave it!
Probably could've skipped writing this long bugger off too right? Yeah, I could've. But sooner or later, it had to be said. Maybe it didn't come out too well but here's my two cents in the wide spectrum of opinion. What's your say on this?
Well Thought 💯
